VISA Information

Foreign nationals entering Korea are generally required to have a valid passport and a Korean visa assigned by overseas branch of Korean embassy or consular offices. However, many are now permitted visa-free for a limited period under certain conditions following the Citizens of the Countries under the "Visa Exemption Agreement".

If you are not sure if you need a visitor visa to travel to Korea, visit the Republic of Korea Visa Portal and select 'Visa Navigator' . The website will generate a response and for those who need a visa to visit Korea, next steps will be provided.

Attendees are encouraged to submit a visa application well in advance of the June conference at a Korean Diplomatic Mission Abroad or online e-Visa Application via the Visa Portal.

Korea may not have a visa office in the country you are currently residing, so it is important that AAS-in-ASIA conference attendees check to find a Diplomatic Mission at the Korea Visa Portal website.

VISA Application Processing

For the e-Visa, you can check the evaluation results within 3 working days from submission. However, for such cases in which required documents are omitted, submission of additional documents is requested, or an investigation is required, evaluation might take longer than usual and the notice letter will be sent to the applicant or the representative via e-mail or SMS.

For the Visas being processed at the Diplomatic Office, you can check for the evaluation result within 5 working days from submission. For the cases which require interviews and investigation (e.g. marriage migrant visa), the evaluation process may take one to two month(s). Please refer to the notice board of the Diplomatic Office of submission for the duration of the visa issuance process. Each Diplomatic Office may require a different amount of time depending on the workload.

However, for a margin of safety, conference participants are encouraged to apply early for a Visa.

VISA Issuance Support (Letter of Invitation)

Upon request, duly registered participants and/or anyone registered to attend the 2017 AAS-in-ASIA will be supported for visa issuance by receiving an official invitation letter and other documents (if any) for Visa.

If you are not a formal panel participant or have NOT registered for the conference we are unable to provide a letter of invitation.
